Locating the Head of the amygdala (what we recommend) |
---|---|
To locate the head of the amygdala, we use the "Set Head and Tail/Load Landmarks" box in the "Landmark Panel." |
Adjust the head position in the Y direction using the Y controller in the "Set Head and Tail/Load Landmarks" box. First, locate the slice where the temporal lobe starts to separate from the frontal lobe. Then, move caudally 4mm (more or less 1 mm) until when the limen insulae (the white matter that connects the temporal lobe and the frontal lobe) starts to appear. The medial part of the temporal lobe should appear like the coronal section of the cauliflower. The amygdala appears as a quite defined ovoid convexity, inferior to the endorhinal sulcus Click here to watch the full screen video Click here to watch the smaller frame size video |
The head is marked at the center of the inferior boundary of the endorhinal sulcus (superior bounday of the amygdala). Press H to set the head |
