Locating the Tail of the amygdala (what we recommend)

To locate the tail of the amygdala we again use the "Set Head and Tail/Load Landmarks" box in the "Landmark Panel."

As with the head, adjust the position in the Y direction using the Y controller in the "Set Head and Tail/Load Landmarks" box.

When we move caudally in the coronal plane, the hippocampus starts to appear below the amygdala. The temporal horn of lateral ventricle stays between the amygdala and the hippocampus.

Stop at the last slice where the amygdala appears as a very small grey triangle above and connected to the hippocampus by the hippocampus-amygdala transition matter
